Slack
Tandem in Slack is a bot in your workspace. Mention it, or write to it in the channel it is invited to, and what you wrote becomes a task the CEO picks up. The thread is the conversation: the team answers there, and the scorecard lands there every Monday.
Add Tandem to Slack
Section titled “Add Tandem to Slack”During setup, or later from the workspace’s Chat page, press Add to Slack. Slack asks you to confirm the bot’s permissions and the workspace to add it to; when you come back, the connection is made. Invite the bot to the channel the team should live in.
Your own Slack app
Section titled “Your own Slack app”If your company does not allow third-party apps, connect a Slack app of your own: on the Chat page, choose Connect your own app and paste its bot token, signing secret and app-level token. Events reach Tandem over Socket Mode, so nothing in your Slack has to be reachable from the internet.
What the team can do there
Section titled “What the team can do there”- Take a request and turn it into a task for the CEO, within seconds.
- Answer in the thread the request was made in: one thread, one task. The pieces of a plan live as their own tasks; only the CEO’s summary goes back into the thread.
- Post the scorecard on Mondays, and when you ask for it.
- Post the CEO’s weekday-morning message when something waits on you, and the Friday review.
How it is wired
Section titled “How it is wired”Your Slack’s credentials never enter the workspace. Tandem stands between Slack and the workspace: Slack’s events arrive at Tandem, are verified and passed to the workspace’s Slack connection; the workspace’s calls to Slack go through Tandem, which holds the bot token. Disconnecting on the Chat page revokes it. A connection made before the workspace was built reaches it as soon as it runs.
