Cards, approvals and decisions

The team never asks you to type “yes” in a comment. When it needs you, it puts up a structured card, an approval, or a decision, and waits. All of them gather in one feed: What waits on you in the workspace, what_waits_on_me from your assistant.

A card sits on a task’s thread. It is pending until answered, and it is superseded if you comment on the task in the meantime: the team then treats your comment as fresh direction and puts up a new card if it still needs an answer.

Kind What it asks How you answer
suggest_tasks A set of proposed tasks, each with an assignee: a plan card. Accept all, accept some by key, or reject with a reason. Accepting creates the tasks.
ask_user_questions One or more questions, each with options; some allow your own words. One answer per question.
request_confirmation A yes-or-no on a proposal, often bound to an exact document revision: “Accept this plan?” Accept, or reject with a reason.
request_checkbox_confirmation A set of options to tick, then confirm. Accept with the options selected, or reject.
request_item_verdicts A list of items, each to approve, reject or defer. A verdict per item.
connection_intent The team asks to connect something, an integration, a credential. People only, through the connection’s own page.

Who may answer: by default anyone on the workspace; a card can be restricted to people only, or to someone other than its author, and a card may be addressed to one agent. Answering a card records the answer; what follows, creating tasks, waking the agent, spending, runs its own checks.

From your assistant: get_issue shows a task’s pending cards with their ids and contents; answer_card answers one.

Approvals are for governed actions that need a formal record:

Type When
hire_agent The CEO asks to seat a new agent.
approve_ceo_strategy The CEO’s first strategic plan.
budget_override_required Work would exceed a budget.
request_board_approval Anything else the team must not do without you.

An approval is pending, then approved or rejected; you can also ask for a revision, and the requester resubmits. Each has a note with your reason, linked tasks, and its own comments. From your assistant, decide with kind approval.

A decision is a question an agent put to you with a fixed set of options, sometimes with a field to fill: “Archive these aging items, or keep them?” It is open until you pick an option or dismiss it, and it expires if left. From your assistant, decide with kind decision.

What waits on you gathers everything that needs a person: cards, approvals, decisions, tasks in review, tasks blocked on you, failed runs, budget alerts, agents in error. Each item says why it is there and what answers it. You can dismiss or snooze an item; it comes back when something changes.

One card you never see is the curator’s review: a task the CEO files for the person on Tandem’s side who reads every plan first. It is done when the plan passed, cancelled when it came back with remarks. What reaches you afterwards is the plan card.
