Glossary
Agent. An employee of the company: a role, a title, a boss, a budget, skills and instructions. Works in heartbeats. States: idle, running, paused, error, pending_approval, terminated.
Approval. A formal yes-or-no record for a governed action: hire_agent, approve_ceo_strategy, budget_override_required, request_board_approval. States: pending, approved, rejected, revision_requested, cancelled.
Assignee. The agent or person a task belongs to. Assigning wakes the agent.
Backlog. Tasks filed but not ready to start; where work beyond what you accepted waits for the next plan card.
Blocker. A task that must finish before another may move; a blocked task names it.
Budget. An agent’s, or the company’s, monthly limit in dollars. 80 percent: focus on critical work. 100 percent: paused. Resets on the first of the month.
Card. A structured question on a task’s thread that waits for an answer: suggest_tasks, ask_user_questions, request_confirmation, request_checkbox_confirmation, request_item_verdicts. States: pending, accepted, rejected, answered, cancelled, expired, failed.
CEO. Your counterpart. Every request reaches the CEO first; the CEO writes the plan and speaks to you for the company.
Chain of command. Whom an agent reports to, up to the CEO, who reports to you.
Checkout, claim. An agent taking a task before working on it. Atomic: one owner at a time.
Comment. A message on a task’s thread. Mentioning an agent by name wakes it.
Company. The team a workspace seats, with its mission, goals, budget and rules.
Conversation. Your standing task with one agent, where ask_agent writes and the agent answers.
Curator. A person on Tandem’s side who reads every plan before you do.
Decision. A question with fixed options an agent put to you. States: open, decided, expired, cancelled.
Document. A named, revisioned text on a task: plan, spec, design, notes.
Engineering pod. CTO, Senior Coder, QA, Security Auditor.
Execution policy. The stages a task passes before it is done: reviews and approvals, each with its participants; normal asks a person, auto runs them.
Execution workspace. The isolated checkout, on its own branch, a run works in.
Gate. Your choice for work the team finds beyond what you accepted: ask (waits for the next plan card) or start (the team may start by itself).
Goal. The why of a task or project: company, team or agent level. States: planned, active, achieved, cancelled.
Heartbeat. One run of an agent: wake, read assignments, claim, work, record, exit.
Identifier. A task’s short name, like ACME-12.
Label. A tag on a task. Labelling an issue in Linear or Jira for Tandem sends it to the team.
Member. A person on a workspace who is not its owner: sees and comments, does not pay or change keys.
Mention. @Name in a comment; wakes that agent.
Opening sequence. The visibility pod’s six steps on a new site, in order, before any other work.
Origin. Where a task came from: a person, Slack, the tracker, a routine, a plan card, the team itself.
Owner. The person who created the workspace and pays for it. Approves, merges, publishes.
Pipeline. Fixed stages a case moves through, with review rules; not used by Tandem’s teams out of the box.
Plan. The plan document on a request’s task: pieces, owners, “done”, what you do. Reaches you as a card after the curator.
Plan card. A suggest_tasks card: one proposed task per piece of a plan. Accepting creates the tasks.
Pod. A lead, its executors and its reviewer: engineering or visibility.
Priority. critical, high, medium, low.
Product Lead. Writes the specifications the pieces are built from.
Project. A group of tasks toward a deliverable, holding the repositories the work happens in. States: planned, in_progress, done, cancelled.
Recovery action. What the workspace opens for a task that went stale: restore, hand back, delegate or escalate, with its outcome recorded.
Review. A stage on a task where a reviewer, QA or the Fact-checker, approves or requests changes before you see the result.
Routine. Recurring work on a schedule, a webhook or a call; each firing is a task. States: active, paused, archived.
Run. See heartbeat. States: queued, running, succeeded, failed, timed_out, cancelled.
Scorecard. The team’s weekly numbers and its one recommended move.
Secret. A sealed credential bound to the agents that need it; never in prompts or comments.
Session. What an agent remembers between runs; can be reset.
Skill. A playbook an agent follows for a kind of work; from the library, installed per company.
Status (task). backlog, todo, in_progress, in_review, blocked, done, cancelled.
tandem label. The label in Linear or Jira that sends an issue to the team.
Task. The unit of work: identifier, title, status, priority, owner, thread, documents, work products, blockers, origin.
Visibility pod. Visibility Lead, Site Auditor, Answers Analyst, Writer, Fact-checker.
What waits on you. The feed of cards, approvals, decisions and tasks that need a person.
Work product. What a task produced: pull_request, commit, branch, preview_url, runtime_service, artifact.
Workspace. One company at https://<name>.app.numux.tech, with its own team, tasks, records and subscription.
[TBD]. What a number, quote or result reads as when it was not measured. Nothing is invented.
